24 Affirmation Journal Prompts for Self Care

Entry of a journal writing prompt for self care

Journaling has become a staple activity for me to collect my thoughts. I struggle with anxiety at times, so writing affirmations and using journal prompts for self care are very helpful to calm my mind.

Keeping a journal has allowed me to form many ideas that have helped benefit my life. For example, I wrote a journal entry of how my talents could help people and ended up starting my freelance writing career a few months later!

I’d used to write about issues that worried me, unfavorable feelings I had towards myself and situations, and more negative topics. Although writing about these things would help vent them out on paper, I still didn’t feel my best afterward.

It wasn’t until I started writing affirmations following up negative journal entries that I saw a positive shift in my way of thinking.

Everyone is going to have a bad day and go through bad situations, but it’s about how we react that allows us to successfully make it through tough times.

I had to accept that self-affirmation is needed before I could develop a positive view of life. Journaling helps me keep that view by letting me be vulnerable, truthful and kind to myself.

How to Use Journal Prompts

Journaling is very personal, so to me, there’s no wrong way to do it.

I like using old-fashioned pen and paper in a notebook, but if keeping entries on your phone’s notepad is your preference, go for it!

If you don’t know how to start writing affirmation entries into your journal, no worries! I’ve compiled a list of journal prompts for self care that can get you started.
